Teaming up for success
A commitment to do the right things, at the right time, in the right order.
The Standish Group reports that only 16,1% of Management Information System projects are successful… that is, completed on time and budget, with all features and functions as specified. The Project Management Institute attributes the low success rate to poor project management, noting that up to 92% of managed projects are successful. At D-Cogit, we use best project management practices.

Proven methodsWe use: charters to ensure projects activities align with business goals; proposals to document specifications, costs, deliverables and schedules; plans to document tasks, assign resources, schedule work, mitigate risks and track the project; change requests, sparingly, to adjust projects in execution; and post-mortems to learn from successes and failures encountered during project execution.
Scope creepA good project delivered is better than a perfect project unfinished. A moving target can not be estimated. Of course we understand that specifications must sometimes be adjusted during the execution of a project. Perhaps the proposal is missing a crucial specification. Perhaps a business goal is no longer relevant but the project is still viable. Clarity is crucial. Change requests safeguard it.
That said… we encourage clients to defer project changes to future versions of tools under development. Tools benefit from users feedback between iterations and adhere more tightly to real usage requirements rather than predicted ones. Iterations also allows for smaller, more affordable projects, which in turn reduces risks. Fair and squareWe desire long term relationships with our clients. We build rapport with them and deepen our understanding of where they are and where they want to go. We are here to help resolve their pains and realize their goals.
We are not cheap. We charge clients a fair price and pay our employees and suppliers a fair price. A fair price ensures the well-being of our company, our employees and our suppliers. This makes for productive employees, good service from suppliers and helps ensure long term relationships with clients. |
